Jim Anderson (Roscommon Rotary President) and Jackie Bertsch (Roscommon Rotary Foundation Chair) presented Deb Rosczyk (Roscommon County Literacy Council) with a $3,000 donation for the Dolly Parton Imagination Library Reading Program. The Literacy Council is a non-profit organization dedicated to promoting literacy in Roscommon County. Their major functions include: tutoring adults and children of all ages, mentoring children in the elementary schools, Books for Babes program (new books and materials are given to all new mothers at Grayling Mercy Hospital), and serving as an affiliate for the Dolly Parton Imagination Library (all children enrolled in this program ages 1 – 5 receive one book per month – 60 books in all).
Roscommon Rotary is part of a worldwide Rotary organization made up of committed community leaders who are working towards improving local and global communities. They utilize funds from their 3 annual fundraisers to promote programs and Non Profit Organizations in the local community. Their next fundraiser is the Higgins Lake Sunrise Run on Saturday, June 15th.
