Higgins Lake Trailway Project

Higgins Lake Trailway Project committee members Barb Costello (left) and Wally Chwan present a $10,000 check from the Roscommon Rotary Club to Mary T. Fry, executive director of the Roscommon County Community Foundation to establish the Higgins Lake/Roscommon Trailway System Special Project Fund. The Rotary Club and the RCCF have partnered to raise funds for the trailway. Project site plans can be seen at the RCCF office, 701 Lake St., Roscommon. Any individuals or organizations who would like to contribute to the project may contact RCCF at 275-3112.

State Rep. Joel Sheltrown, D-West Branch, and Roscommon Rotary Club past President Barb Costello are pictured with a map of the proposed bicycle path circling Higgins Lake. The club has committed proceeds of its fund-raisers for three years to the project, Costello said. Sheltrown described the project as "exciting" and said it represents "very innovative thinking."
